Derrick Henry of the Titans may not be in Tennessee next season, according to an interview that was conducted last week and released Wednesday.

The running back has been with the Titans for eight seasons, joining as the 45th overall pick in 2016.

Former Tennessee head coach Mike Vrabel was fired last week, and Henry does not believe the team is committed to his personal improvement as he reaches free agency next season.

“I am not saying it is closed,” stated Henry. “But I feel like they’re headed in a different way. I believe [Vrabel’s firing] has solidified that. And that’s okay. That happens. That is the nature of the business.

“We want something that lasts forever. Nothing works, particularly in this business. I will always be a Titan, even if I do not return. At the end of the day, my goal is to win the Super Bowl.

Why The Philadelphia Eagles Aren't Trading For The Tennessee Titans' Derrick Henry

“I want to do whatever provides me the best opportunity. I have no bad blood and feel no way if I don’t return. It’s exactly what was supposed to happen. The story is already written; we are all simply living it.”

Henry has scored 90 touchdowns and rushed for 9,502 yards in his Titans career.

His cumulative total is second only to Titans icon Eddie George, who has accumulated 10,009.

It appears improbable that Henry will return to smash that record.
