On Tuesday, managing partner Josh Harris announced Adam Peters as the Washington Commanders’ new general manager, and the team is now focused on selecting their next head coach.
The front office and scouting departments will also need to be restructured. Peters joins as a highly respected football executive, and he now has the opportunity to rebuild this team.
Washington has been undertaking a head coach search and has been linked to eight prospects. There are currently seven available head coaching positions in the NFL.
Teams can hold virtual sessions with coaches, and Washington has begun adding new names to the list this week. They interviewed Ravens Associate HC/DL Coach Anthony Weaver and DC Mike Macdonald before hiring Peters.
On Thursday, Washington interviewed Cowboys DC Dan Quinn and Rams DC Raheem Morris, and a virtual session with Lions OC Ben Johnson is slated for Friday. Teams are unable to hold in-person interviews until January 22nd, thus they must wait until then to officially appoint their new coach.
