The Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad had five contracts expire this week, according to the NFL transaction.
The Jaguars no longer have the following players on their roster:
- RB Snoop Conner QB
- E.J. Perry
- WR Jacob Harris
- C James Murray
- DL Henry Mondeaux
Conner is the most well-known name—and the lone draft pick—on this list. In 2022, the Jaguars traded two sixth-round picks (Nos. 188 and 198 overall) to the Philadelphia Eagles, moving up to No. 154 to choose the Ole Miss running back.
Conner then appeared in eight games with the Jaguars, rushing 12 times for 42 yards and one touchdown. Conner did not make the Jaguars’ 53-man roster to start the 2023 season, hence his four-year rookie contract was voided.
Conner was re-signed to the practice squad, but he did not play for the Jaguars following the signings of third-round rookie running back Tank Bigsby and free-agent veteran D’Ernest Johnson.
Johnson is also a free agent, thus the Jaguars’ only current running backs are Bigsby and Travis Etienne.
Perry is another notable name, having served as the Jaguars’ third quarterback and major practice squad thrower in 2022. Perry was one of the most notable acquisitions during the undrafted free agency period, however he was replaced by Nathan Rourke in 2023.
After Rourke was waived and later claimed by the New England Patriots on waivers, the Jaguars reinstated Perry to their practice squad. This time, he was ranked fourth behind veteran free agent Matt Barkley, who is also set to become a free agency.
