The Lions Division Round playoff game has led the NHL to reschedule the Detroit Red Wings’ home game against Tampa Bay for the same afternoon.
The Detroit Lions defeated the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night, thrilling a sellout crowd at Ford Field. They will now host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday at 3:00 p.m. In response, the NHL intervened, rescheduling the Detroit Red Wings game, which was originally scheduled for 5:00 PM.
The Detroit Red Wings will now play at 7:00 pm on Sunday.
Coincidentally, the Red Wings will face another Tampa Bay opponent, the Lightning, for the first time since Opening Night on October 14, when the Red Wings won 6-4. This Sunday’s game will now officially begin at 7:00 PM.
Bottom Line: Can Detroit beat Tampa Bay twice on the same day?
It’s an exciting moment for Detroit sports fans, with the Lions on a run they haven’t seen in three decades and the fabled “Yzerplan” appearing to come together for the Red Wings as they look to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
The possibility of both Detroit teams defeating their Tampa Bay opponents on the same day, less than a mile apart in downtown Detroit, would be an incredible sight!
