Kyle Shanahan, the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, is just amazed by Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love’s development this season.
The Packers started badly, finishing 2-5 in their first seven games of the season. At that time, all hope was lost, as the team was engulfed in finger-pointing and blame games. There were also many questions regarding Love’s future with the squad, particularly following his early troubles.
Since that poor start, the Packers have lost only three games because to Love’s remarkable play. In the first seven games of the season, the Green Bay quarterback tossed 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions. In the team’s final ten games, he had 21 passing touchdowns and only three interceptions.
That tremendous turnaround was the key reason the Packers were able to make a late push for a postseason spot, finally clinching the NFC’s final Wild Card spot with a victory over the Chicago Bears.
Kyle Shanahan is impressed with Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love.
Kyle Shanahan was asked during his media news conference on Tuesday, ahead of their divisional round game, about Jordan Love’s development and what has struck out to him. The San Francisco 49ers coach said that Love’s steadiness has been his most valuable asset throughout their recent hot streak.
Shanahan is particularly impressed by Love’s handling of the ball, calling it a “unbelievable” achievement.
“He has come a long way since he plays at such a high level. To be pushed in there early this year and have to deal with some ups and downs, even if he did some good things earlier in the year.
To not win all those games, when you have a bad record in your first year, the pressure that comes with it, and just watching him play every game, he’s been consistent,” Shanahan said of Love, according to 49ers WebZone.
“It’s incredible how well he’s handled the ball. I believe there have been 21 touchdowns and one pick in the last ten games. He’s very consistent in what they ask him to accomplish.
[Green Bay Packers’ Head Coach] Matt’s [LaFleur] really excellent at coaching the quarterback, and you can see that their quarterback is on board. He plays well in their system and makes numerous plays. “He has a big arm and is a big dude.”
Sure enough, Shanahan and his 49ers will look to put an end to Love and the Packers’ remarkable run. However, as the San Francisco head coach knows, that is easier said than done.
