Brett Boyko’s contract with the Edmonton Elks has been extended.

The Edmonton Elks have made significant roster acquisitions for the next season, reinforcing the team’s composition. Local fans are pleased to hear that offensive lineman Brett Boyko has re-signed, signaling his continued dedication to the team. Last season, he played a significant part in 14 games, starting 13 of them at right tackle.

Boyko, a first-rate lineman, began his career with the BC Lions as a former second-round pick before expanding his horizons in NFL ventures with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Chargers, demonstrating the range of his skills across leagues. Boyko, who is returning from the XFL’s Orlando Guardians, is expected to strengthen the Elks’ offensive line.

Donnie Lewis Jr. Increases Defensive Depth

Donnie Lewis Jr., an American defensive back, boosts the Elks’ defense in consecutive strides. Lewis Jr., whose most recent exploits include a spell on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats practice squad and notable performances with the Birmingham Stallions in the USFL, now seeks to make his imprint in the CFL.

From his collegiate days at Tulane University, the Baton Rouge, Louisiana native’s resume reflects a long history on the field, with 160 tackles, eight interceptions, and 37 pass breakups. His transition to the professional ranks included getting picked by the Cleveland Browns and stints with several NFL organizations before landing in the CFL.

As the team’s 75th anniversary season approaches, the Elks have their sights set on the future. With Boyko’s offensive protection and Lewis Jr.’s defensive skill, the Elks are poised to make an immediate impression. The club will kick off this historic season at home on June 8 against the prestigious Saskatchewan Roughriders, kicking off a season of celebration and competition.
