Jordan Younger has been elevated to defensive coordinator for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Richie Hall, who has held the position since 2015, will remain with the organization in an unspecified capacity.

“(Younger) has been an intelligent, creative, and passionate leader for many years,” head coach Mike O’Shea said in a statement. “Having Richie remain with the organization and provide his decades of experience is something we are all very grateful for.”

Younger joined the Blue Bombers as defensive backs coach in 2018 after working as an assistant coach with the Toronto Argonauts for three years. The 45-year-old Trenton, New Jersey native played nine seasons in the CFL with the Argos and Edmonton Football Team, winning the Grey Cup in his final season in 2012.

After Paul Boudreau was let go after six seasons with the team, the club recruited long-time special teams ace Mike Miller as its new special teams coordinator.

The 34-year-old Riverview, New Brunswick native spent 12 seasons in the CFL, including stints with Edmonton and Winnipeg. In 2021, he broke Jason Arakgi’s special teams tackle record to become the league’s all-time leader. Miller was injured throughout the entire 2023 season and concluded his career with 226 special teams tackles and two West Division all-star selections.

“Making any staff changes is never an easy decision, and we are very appreciative of the years Bou [sic] spent with us,” O’Shea said. “Mike Miller is a very well-respected member of our league who I believe will make an excellent coach.” He is one of the best special teams players of all time, if not the best, and I’m excited to watch how he adapts to this new role.
