The Green Bay Packers boast the most unlikely and longest streak of high-level quarterback play in NFL history. Brett Favre had a remarkable 16-year career with the Packers, winning three NFL MVPs, a Super Bowl, and setting several throwing records. When Green Bay elected to replace him with Aaron Rodgers, no one expected him to live up to the standard Favre set.
They were so wrong! Rodgers’ 15-year tenure as the Packers’ starter included four NFL MVP awards, a Super Bowl victory, and numerous of Favre’s records being broken. Similarly, no one expected Jordan Love to live up to the benchmark established by Rodgers. After all, when was the last time an NFL team hit on a star quarterback three times in a row?
While it is too soon to designate Love the Packers’ third consecutive Hall of Fame quarterback, there is no doubt that he is their third successive franchise quarterback. He finished in the top ten in several throwing statistics, including touchdowns (32nd), passing yards (4,159th), and QBR (62.0th).
This season, Love’s accomplishments have far beyond expectations. In a recent interview with TMZ, Favre commended the Packers’ new starting quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, for accomplishing something neither he nor Rodgers did in their first year.
Brett Favre Speaks Highly of Jordan Love for Leading the Green Bay Packers to the NFL Playoffs
As many Packers fans are aware, Love outperformed both Favre and Rodgers in his first season as Green Bay’s starting quarterback:
Furthermore, Love is the only Packers quarterback to lead his team to the NFL Playoffs in his rookie season. In a recent interview with TMZ, Favre commended Love for this accomplishment:
“All I can say is wow.”He’s now performing as well as any quarterback in the league. “Dallas is going to be a tough opponent, but I’d hate to be the team that has to play the Packers in the playoffs.”
He also offered some words of wisdom to Love ahead of the Dallas game:
“You can only participate in your first playoff game once.” “Savor the moment.”
Favre and Rodgers both lead the Packers to the playoffs in their second seasons.
