Former Green Bay Packers Starter Acquired by NFC Playoff Rival (Breaking)

For the first time since the 2021 season, the Green Bay Packers made the NFC playoffs. Their 17-9 victory over the Chicago Bears earned them a trip to Dallas to face the Cowboys. If the Packers can defeat the Cowboys on the road, they will fly to San Francisco to face the #1 seeded 49ers.

It was reported today that one former Packers starter traveled to San Francisco.

Former Green Bay Packers starting cornerback pays a visit to the San Francisco 49ers ahead of the 2023-24 season.

According to NFL transaction wire and KPRC2, the San Francisco 49ers tested out cornerback Casey Hayward in preparation for the playoffs.

Hayward has not played since sustaining a shoulder injury while playing for the Atlanta Falcons on October 16, 2022. Two days later, he was placed on injured reserve. On April 21, 2023, he was released by the Falcons.

Hayward was picked in the second round by the Green Bay Packers in 2012. He has appeared in 152 games, starting 118 of them. He has 448 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, 25 interceptions, 112 passes defensed, and two forced fumbles in those games.

Hayward did not only play for the Falcons and Packers, but also for the Los Angeles Chargers (2016-20) and the Las Vegas Raiders (2021). He was selected to two Pro Bowls (2016-17) and was named a second-team All-Pro twice during his career.
