On Monday, the Green Bay Packers worked out Hamilton Tiger-Cats linebacker Carthell Flowers-Lloyd, Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver Samuel Emilus, and Hamilton Tiger-Cats cornerback Kenneth George.
Flowers-Lloyd was a standout punt and kick coverage player in 2023, recording 31 special teams tackles in 18 games. In his first CFL season, he got limited defensive action.
Flowers-Lloyd was a collegiate safety at Stony Brook University before signing with the CFL, earning third-team all-conference honors in 2022 after recording 70 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, two quarterback sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one interception, and four pass breakups in 10 games. The 205-pound defender transferred from Eastern Michigan University, where he had 25 tackles in 31 games over three seasons.
This offseason, the 25-year-old has worked out for five NFL teams, including the Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and Pittsburgh Steelers.
In his first season as a full-time starter, Emilus had 70 receptions for 1,097 yards and six touchdowns. The six-foot-one, 200-pound target was a first-round pick out of Louisiana Tech University in the 2022 CFL Draft.
At his pro day, the Montreal native ran a 4.59-second forty-yard dash, a 4.13-second shuttle, and a 6.88 three-cone drill. He also had a vertical jump of 37 inches, a broad jump of 128 inches, and nine reps of 225 pounds on the bench press.
This offseason, the 26-year-old has already worked out for the Arizona Cardinals, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, and Tennessee Titans.
George appeared in all 18 games as a rookie in the CFL in 2023, recording 43 defensive tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and two interceptions. This was his first NFL practice.
Prior to coming to Canada, the six-foot, 194-pound cornerback spent four seasons at the University of Tennessee (2018-21), amassing 52 total tackles, one tackle for loss, one fumble recovery, ten pass deflections, and one interception in 33 games. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Tennessee Titans in 2022 and also played for the XFL’s Houston Roughnecks.
All three players are under contract with their respective CFL teams until the 2024 season, but they can pursue NFL possibilities during the league’s annual workout window, which runs from November 20 to February 13. Monday, January 8, was the first day for CFL players to sign reserve/future contracts with NFL teams.
The Packers (9-8) secured a postseason spot in Week 18 and will meet the Dallas Cowboys (12-5) in an NFC Wild Card game on Sunday, January 14 at 4:30 p.m. ET.
