The Edmonton Elks have signed two-time Grey Cup winner Grey Cullen.McLeod Bethel-Thompson, an American quarterback, has signed with the Edmonton Elks. His contract is said to be for one year and may pay up to $500,000 plus bonuses.
After spending the 2023 season with the New Orleans Breakers of the United States Football League, the two-time Grey Cup winner joins the Green and Gold. In 10 games, Bethel-Thompson led the league in passing yards with 2,433 yards, 14 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, leading New Orleans to a 7-3 record.QB champion
With the Toronto Argonauts in 2022, Bethel-Thompson topped the CFL in passing yards, completing 66.8 percent of his throws for 4,731 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. He played in Toronto’s 109th Grey Cup victory, however he left the game in the fourth quarter due to a dislocated thumb.
From 2017 to 2022, the 35-year-old spent five seasons with Toronto, throwing for a total of 13,261 yards, 70 passing touchdowns, and 49 interceptions in 74 games. In 2021 and 2022, he was selected an East Division all-star, and in 2019, he led the three-down league in touchdown passes.
Bethel-Thompson was undrafted in the 2011 NFL Draft but spent time with the San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, and Philadelphia Eagles. Despite not appearing in any regular-season NFL games, he earned approximately $800,000 USD.
Edmonton concluded the previous season with a 4-14 record. On Saturday, June 8, the Elks will kick off their 75th anniversary season against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
