The Jacksonville Jaguars have reason to believe that their top quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, will be able to play against the Tennessee Titans in week 18. Lawrence took part in limited practice this week and is not at risk of re-injury, according to NFL Network. Lawrence is eager to get back into the game.
Lawrence has been dealing with a sprained shoulder that kept him out of the Jaguars’ last game, a 26-0 thrashing of the Carolina Panthers. The Jaguars kept Lawrence on the bench in the hopes that he could return for the team’s Week 18 matchup. The Jaguars are 9-7 and tied for first place in the AFC South. To keep their postseason aspirations alive, the team must defeat the Titans on Sunday.
The Jaguars received additional good news on Saturday, as wide receiver Christian Kirk was activated from injured reserve and is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Titans. The Jaguars will be hoping that they can get all of their chess pieces in position before facing a struggling Titans club. Lawrence is categorized as questionable for Sunday’s game by the Jaguars.
If Lawrence is unable to travel, Jacksonville’s quarterback would be C.J. Beathard. Beathard passed for 178 yards and led the Jaguars to a win over the Panthers in week 17, but he did not score. Lawrence’s presence on the field would undoubtedly benefit the offense.
Lawrence has passed for 3,736 yards with 19 touchdowns and 12 interceptions this season. The Jaguars and Titans meet on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET. The Titans are 5-11 entering the contest.
