All the latest Elland Road news as the January transfer window gets underway.

Leeds United began the New Year with a victory over Birmingham City at Elland Road this week. The success was much-needed for Daniel Farke’s side, who had previously fallen short against Preston North End and West Brom over the festive period, and it keeps their prospects of automatic promotion alive.

However, the January transfer window is now open, and Leeds may be seeking to conduct the necessary business to get themselves over the line. As the window opens, we’ve compiled a list of this morning’s Elland Road headlines.

Clarke is expected to play in the Premier League.

According to HITC, former Leeds United teenager Jack Clarke is garnering interest from a number of Premier League clubs this month.

Clarke, who departed the Whites in 2019, has been in superb form for Sunderland this season, scoring 12 Championship goals and propelling the Black Cats into the play-off zone.

His efforts appear to have caught the attention of Sheffield United and Burnley, who are both keeping tabs on the 23-year-old. Both clubs are in the bottom three of the Premier League and appear to be looking to add the firepower they require to avoid relegation to the second division.

Is Thomas on the go?

According to the Telegraph, former Leeds United target Luke Thomas might leave Sheffield United this month, with his parent club Leicester City considering a recall.
Thomas, who decided to join the Blades on loan over Leeds in the summer transfer window, has made 12 Premier League appearances this season, but has recently dropped down the pecking order, appearing in just one of Sheffield’s last six games.

It remains to be seen if he would have a role to play at the King Power Stadium if he returns, but if he is made available again, Leeds may wind up reigniting their interest in the England U21 international.
