Matt LaFleur, the head coach of the Green Bay Packers, is confident in their starting quarterback. Despite an up and down season for the first-year starter, the head coach has reiterated his confidence in the signal caller’s ability to overcome adversity.
‘Moving Pieces’ for the Green Bay Packers
What has most impressed Coach LeFleur about Jordan Love is how calm he has remained throughout the Green Bay Packers season.
During a season that has seen its fair share of wide receiver injuries, head coach LaFleur shared the following insight:
Love does an excellent job of reading plays in accordance with the development and what the opposition presents.
Love’s performance as a first-year starter in the NFL was unclear. Love’s season has been hampered by players who have been frequently missing for game day, preventing synergy from developing.
On social media, a Green Bay Packers beat writer expressed similar sentiments:
Jordan Love has done “a hell of a job” dealing with so many changing parts in the #Packers offense this season, according to Matt LaFleur, and has done so since week one: “It makes everything he’s accomplished all the more impressive.” Because that is not an easy task.
Green Bay Packers Wide Receivers vs. Minnesota Vikings
Even with the Green Bay Packers’ next game against the Minnesota Vikings on the horizon, the wide receiver position appears to be beset with injury issues.
Christian Watson does not appear to be able to play on Sunday Night Football, as coach LaFleur has declared that he is ‘doubtful’ for the game. Another unknown for the upcoming game is Dontayvion Wicks, who is questionable to play against the Vikings.
Even if these two players are able to participate, it highlights a greater issue that has plagued the Green Bay Packers all season.
Time spent injured or unable to practice prevents Love from developing timing or connection with his receivers. Having game time as his only opportunity to connect with his targets is a challenging way for any quarterback to succeed on the field, let alone one beginning for the first time in their career.
The Green Bay Packers Must Find A Way To Win.
The Green Bay Packers must win against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, regardless of who plays. What previously appeared to be a sure road to the playoffs may now end in a potential nail-biter.
Currently third in the NFC North, this 7-8 club will be unable to make the playoffs unless they win their next two games. (Yes, there is a slight chance, but it would require even more help.) With the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks both sitting at 8-7, how they finish their seasons could determine the fate of this team’s postseason hopes.
In any case, Love has grown during the season. With greater consistency and playoff experience next year, he should be able to demonstrate that he is the team’s future.
