The Green Bay Packers’ NFC North rivals have all had significant changes at the head coaching job in recent years. In 2022, the Chicago Bears hired Matt Eberflus, the Minnesota Vikings hired Kevin O’Connell, and the Detroit Lions hired Dan Campbell.
One of its NFC North competitors has made a significant choice about the future of their head coach, according to reports today.
In an unexpected move, a Green Bay Packers rival has decided to keep their current head coach.
Matt Eberflus appears to be returning to Chicago and maybe being extended. It’s difficult to believe, yet here it is. There’s no reason for the Bears to rule out additional choices until the clock hits midnight and the season ends in 2023. Eberflus was also reportedly on the verge of being sacked earlier this year if the Bears lost to the Commanders. The organization wasn’t sold on him after a poor start to the season.
However, despite a late-season surge (the Bears have won five of their last six games), Matt Eberflus appears to have secured more time with the team.
When it comes to returning to Chicago, Eberflus is “moving in the right direction,” according to Ian Rapoport. As the head coach of Chicago, Eberflus had a 9-23 record.
