The Jacksonville Jaguars are on a four-game losing streak, and star quarterback Trevor Lawrence has already been ruled out of Week 17’s game against the Carolina Panthers, so things aren’t looking good as the team tries to win its second-straight AFC South title.
Cam Robinson, the Jags’ starting left tackle, was activated off injured reserve and re-added to the active roster on Saturday. He will participate against the Panthers after missing the previous four games due to a knee injury sustained in the first quarter of the team’s Week 12 encounter against the Houston Texans.
Robinson’s season has been a roller coaster ride, beginning with a four-game ban for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug (PED) rules. However, when he has been on the field, he has performed admirably.
The Jaguars will need this week as they go up against Brian Burns, one of the league’s premier pass rushers. The remainder of the Panthers’ pass rush isn’t particularly strong, as indicated by their season-low 21 sacks. They also have the lowest pressure rate (16.2%), despite blitzing at a rate of 29.4%.
The hope is that Robinson can help the squad snap its four-game losing streak. Is it a coincidence that the Jaguars have lost every game since he was placed on injured reserve?
Most likely. In any case, the Jags must win this game, so Robinson’s return is a significant lift that will undoubtedly help them go closer to that goal.
