Aaron Rodgers was the Green Bay Packers’ franchise quarterback for many years.
Hate him or love him, there’s no denying the new Jets quarterback was one of the best signal callers to ever wear green and gold, and his accomplishments in Green Bay will be remembered forever.
Rodgers became the Packers’ starting quarterback in 2008 after backing up Brett Favre for the first three years of his NFL career. During the 2010 season, he led them to a Super Bowl XLV victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, earning him the Super Bowl MVP award. He was elected Associated Press Athlete of the Year in 2011, and the Associated Press named him league MVP in 2011, 2014, 2020, and 2021. Rodgers joins Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Joe Montana, and Jim Brown as the fifth player to earn NFL MVP in consecutive seasons.
Rodgers has led the NFL in touchdown-to-interception ratio six times (2011, 2012, 2014, 2018, 2020, 2021), lowest passing interception percentage six times (2009, 2014, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021), passer rating four times (2011, 2012, 2020, 2021), touchdown passing percentage four times (2011, 2012, 2020, 2021), total touchdowns three times (2011, 2016, 2020), touchdown passes twice (2016, 2020), yards per attempt once (2011) and completion percentage once (2011).
Aaron Rodgers has the highest passer rating, the best touchdown-to-interception ratio, and the lowest passing interception percentage in NFL history, with a regular-season career passer rating of over 100 (the first to ever have a career rating over 100).
His achievements with the Packers do not end there.
He ranks second in both touchdown passes and touchdown-to-interception ratio in the postseason, fourth in passing yards, and fifth in all-time passer rating. In the regular season, he owns the best touchdown-to-interception ratio in NFL history at 4.52, the lowest career interception rate in the league at 1.4 percent, and the highest single-season passer rating of 122.5. Rodgers has also won the ESPY Award for Best NFL Player four times.
From 2014 to 2021, the former Packers quarterback forged a bond with WR Davante Adams that elevated the duo to the top of the NFL for several years.
Adams had over 1,000 yards receiving in three of his four seasons with his former Packers quarterback, including two incredible seasons during Rodgers’ back-to-back MVP seasons in 2020 and 2021. Adams finished the year with 115 receptions for 1,374 yards and 18 touchdowns. He backed that up with a career-high performance, catching 123 balls for 1,553 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Aside from the 1,000-yard seasons. Davante Adams received more than 800 yards in three other seasons with Rodgers as his quarterback, including two in which he was literally three yards short of 1,000 yards, finishing with 997 yards in 2016 and 2019.
Proposed trade might reunite Green Bay Packers stars in New York.
Rodgers has made it abundantly clear that he intends to return to the New York Jets in 2024 — and while he will inherit an offense brimming with talent, from rookie WR Garrett Wilson to electric RB Breece Hall, a recent Bleacher Report article mentioned the possibility of Adams reuniting with his old QB in a trade this offseason.
Here’s what the article suggested:
Raiders receive a first-round pick in 2024.
The Jets have signed wide receiver Davante Adams.
The 2024 season will be pivotal for the New York Jets. So far, the Aaron Rodgers trade has received a “incomplete” grade since the star quarterback tore his Achilles before we even seen what the offense could look like with him in charge.
This adds to the strain on 2024. Rodgers officially admitted he won’t be participating this season, but he also informed Pat McAfee that 2024 will not be his last.
That may be his desire, but nothing is sure at 40 years old. The Jets have the opportunity to be ambitious and place a large number of eggs in the 2024 basket.
Davante Adams, his former teammate, could be among them. In Green Bay, the two were a formidable force. Adams, on the other hand, was moved to the Raiders in 2022 to play with his old college quarterback Derek Carr.
When asked about stars who could be traded, Dan Graziano’s first response was Adams. As he points out, the front office that made the transaction and extended Adams’ contract is no longer in place. If the Raiders are being honest with themselves, a soon-to-be 31-year-old receiver isn’t as valuable to them as an additional first-round pick.
The Jets would suddenly have two receivers capable of being the team’s No. 1 option. Teams would have a difficult time accounting for both Garrett Wilson and Adams.
The fact that the story references Dan Graziano — who is well-connected in NFL circles and quickly mentions Davante Adams when asked about stars who could be traded — is extremely instructive.
We’ve seen Rodgers has some clout when it comes to bringing in guys (Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard this season), so this could be a real possibility.
