The Texas Longhorns have added another high-profile player to their roster.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — On Wednesday, the Texas Longhorns added another promising backfield player with the formal signing of 2024 Mountain Pointe (Phoenix) running back Christian Clark.
He chose the Longhorns over Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, and Oregon, citing his chemistry with coach Steve Sarkisian and running backs coach Tashard Choice as a big factor for his decision.
“I have developed a great relationship with Coach Choice, Coach Sark, and the rest of the UT staff,” Clark said in an interview with On3. “Their plan for me is to make me the best person I can be both on and off the field.” The offense they use will allow me to show off my versatility by allowing me to catch the ball out of the backfield, slot it, and run the football.”
Clark had 135 rushes for 801 yards and six touchdowns this past high school football season, as well as 12 catches for 144 yards.
Clark now joins the team’s most talented running back room, especially if Jonathon Brooks returns next season. Brooks, C.J. Baxter, Jaydon Blue, and Tre Wisner are all standout players for a program that has emerged as the unofficial RBU in college football.
Clark’s commitment added him to a Texas 2024 recruiting class that already included quarterback Trey Owens, receiver Freddie Dubose, and cornerback Santana Wilson. However, this developed to include names such as Collin Simmons, Ryan Wingo, and others.
