The Detroit Lions practiced again on Wednesday in preparation for their Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys. Jerry Jacobs and Taylor Decker were among those who did not take part in the media portion of practice.
According to a team source, Jacobs was on the practice field. James Houston was also absent from practice. Coach Dan Campbell suggested that the second-year player might begin his return-to-play practice window this week, but he was not present on Wednesday.
Cornerback Emmanuel Moseley, who is sidelined for the season due to a knee injury, was seen watching practice from the sidelines. Micah Parsons has been a strong force for the Cowboys this season, totaling 13.0 sacks. The Lions’ offensive line has been a strength all season, making Saturday’s game a fascinating clash.
“Oh, he’s a game-changer for sure.” “I was just talking to the guys upstairs, and they move him all the time, right side, left side, over either guard, over the center,” Johnson stated. “Almost every snap, he’s in a different location, so it’s difficult to get a beat that accounts for where he’s at.” And now that you know where he is, there are so many more energetic, young players up front. I think that’s what coach (Dan) Quinn does so well, the rotation and keeping those players working nonstop and relentlessly.”
With a shorter practice week, the Lions will focus on third-down preparations on Wednesday. Facing the Cowboys’ pass rush, led by Parsons and Demarcus Lawrence, will be a difficult assignment for the offense in this situation.
“Today’s our third down day, you turn on their third down tape and it’s just a party at the quarterback for third-and-5 plus,” he added. “It’s pretty amazing what they can do with their pass rush.” So Micah is a big part of the problems we’re dealing with this week.”
