Leicestershire’s most recent Leicester City newsAccording to earlier reports, Tom Cannon is getting transfer interest from other clubs.

Carlton Palmer believes Leicester City made the right decision in keeping Tom Cannon in the January transfer window.

City had previously been reported to have received loan’requests’ for Cannon. However, any interest is claimed to have been rebuffed down, with the Foxes intending to keep the striker.

It is also reported that City are considering giving the 20-year-old greater playing time in the second half of the season, especially because both Patson Daka and Kelechi Iheanacho are set to compete in the Africa Cup of Nations next month. Palmer, a former England international, has now praised City’s choice.

“Cannon joined Leicester from Everton for £7.5 million on deadline day, but he has been sidelined with a back injury,” he said to Football League World.

“He is back to full fitness and will see more playing time in the second half of the season.” In my opinion, the Foxes made the correct decision; their aim is to gain promotion, and Cannon has demonstrated he can score goals at the Championship level.

“Yes he does need to get game time to enhance his development, but Tom himself has said he is happy to stay and fight for his place.”
