Jordan Pickford, a former Sunderland player, plans to attend Sunderland’s FA Cup match against Newcastle United at the Stadium of Light in January.

Pickford, who was born in Washington, started his career with Sunderland, climbing through the ranks at the Academy of Light to the first team via various loan transfers, including a successful stint at Preston North End during the 2015-16 season.

Pickford moved to Goodison Park to join Everton in a deal for up to £30 million after the Wearsiders were demoted to League One in 2017.

“The fixtures have fallen into place, so hopefully I can go and show my support,” Pickford said of the Wear-Tyne derby, according to BeIN Sports. “I don’t believe there is a bigger derby in the country.” I believe it is comparable to Celtic-Rangers.
