During the last days of the summer transfer window, Sevilla finalized the loan signing of Boubakary Soumare from English Championship club Leicester City. This season, the French-born midfielder has made 14 appearances for the Andalusian club, but he has not impressed.
Still, Soumare has high aspirations at Sevilla, especially after an outstanding performance against Granada on Tuesday, Quique Sanchez Flores’ first game as manager. There’s no doubt that club executives want to keep the 24-year-old on board until the end of the season.
They may not, however, have that luxury. According to Di Marzio (via Estadio Deportivo), Napoli are mulling a winter move for Soumare. Leicester are expected to accept a permanent offer in January if one is available, which may have a huge impact on Sevilla.
Sevilla has a €15 million buy option on Soumare, which they will not exercise until the conclusion of the season, if at all. It allows Napoli to make a move, which would be disastrous for Quique.
