Report: Giants sign Green Bay Packers great, who will play for his second NFL team after spending 16 years in Green Bay.

Short of Aaron Rodgers, kicker Mason Crosby may be the most synonymous with the last 15 years of Green Bay Packers football. After being selected in the sixth round of the 2007 NFL draft, he spent 16 seasons as the team’s kicker, becoming the Packers’ all-time scoring leader and breaking Brett Favre’s record for consecutive games played. Crosby, like his friend Rodgers, left the organization in the offseason when Green Bay selected his replacement, Anders Carlson, in the sixth round of the 2023 draft. And, like Rodgers, he will make his NFL debut in New York.

Crosby, who has yet to play this season, has signed with the New York Giants and will kick for the team on Christmas Day against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. According to Garafolo, the team has signed Crosby to the practice squad and will promote him to play in the team’s game on Sunday. New York has already lost kickers Graham Gano and Randy Bullock to injuries this season, and Cade York worsened a leg ailment in practice this week and will be placed on injured reserve.

Crosby has 395 career field goals, which ranks 14th all-time in NFL history, and has made 81.4% of his extra point attempts. He was a good 25 of 29 with the Packers last season, making 37 of 39 extra points. He briefly signed with the Los Angeles Rams earlier this month, but was released before appearing in a game. The Giants-Eagles game begins at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday.
