Consider being penalized on your day off. That is the current reality for Joey Hunt, the offensive guard with the Seattle Seahawks. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Hunt was fined $1,610 by the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell for a brief altercation with Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown.
According to the league, Hunt was fined for unsportsmanlike behavior. Hunt became the first Seahawks player to receive a fine since Week 14, when the league fined Jaxon Smith-Njigba, D.K. Metcalf, and DeeJay Dallas.

Hunt did not suit up for the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, but he was still in the spotlight for the primetime game. A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles and Hunt exchanged words on the Seattle sideline after the former shoved the star receiver.
On Monday Night Football, presenter Joe Buck referred to Hunt as a “staff member.” Hunt and the Seahawks made light of the situation, with the offensive lineman wearing a practice jersey with the name “Staffer” on the back during this week’s practice.

Hunt, a sixth-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft, played college football for the TCU Horned Frogs. Hunt spent four years with the Horned Frogs, appearing in 42 games before signing with the Seattle Seahawks. However, Hunt was released by the Seahawks in the summer of 2020 after four years with the team. He played in 20 games, starting three of them at center. Hunt signed with the Indianapolis Colts for the 2020 season but only appeared in one game.
Hunt re-joined the Seahawks in 2022 and has remained with them ever since. He has been on the active, practice, and reserve rosters at various times.
