Green Bay Packers rumored to be interested in signing Cincinnati Bengals star (Report)
The Green Bay Packers will keep adding weapons around Jordan Love until enough sticks. The young core that is currently surrounding Love appears to be a fantastic start. Draft acquisitions made in the offseasons of 2022 and 2023 have already had a significant impact on the teams’ success this season.
The Packers, on the other hand, may still add a superstar to their squad in the form of a Cincinnati Bengals wide out.
The Green Bay Packers have been identified as a potential landing spot for Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins.
Bleacher Report’s Joe Tansey explained how this may happen:
Tee Higgins would be an ideal No. 1 wide receiver for the Packers to acquire.
Higgins has been the Bengals’ No. 2 to Ja’Marr Chase for his entire NFL career, but it is unlikely that the Bengals can afford to give him a large contract.
The 24-year-old’s value may have risen slightly following his heroics on Saturday, which enabled the Bengals to force OT against the Minnesota Vikings.
Higgins’ performance with Chase out injured on Saturday and in the coming weeks might cement his place as the top free-agent pass-catcher on the market.
The Packers have a few promising young wide receivers, but none of them has emerged as a star.
To compete with the other three NFC North teams, they need one of the league’s greatest wide receivers to battle with Amon-Ra St. Brown, Justin Jefferson, and D.J. Moore.
Higgins, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Jayden Reed would be an excellent offensive line for Love to work with, allowing him to advance to the next level as an NFL quarterback.
Would the Packers sign a high-profile wide receiver in free agency?
Jordan Love is surrounded by a very strong young core for the Packers. However, bringing in a veteran (at the age of 24) might be a game changer for this club. Given that the Packers have made significant investments at wide receiver over the last two drafts, it seems likely that they will prioritize other positions this season.
Using free agency to bring in a talent like Higgins while addressing other areas of weakness in the draft may be the Packers’ best shot for filling as many holes as possible.
Of course, the Packers’ salary cap for 2024 will be a factor (as it always is).
