Should the Green Bay Packers pursue potential free agent Kyle Dugger?

The Green Bay Packers still have three games left in the regular season, but there will be changes on the defense in the summer, and one name to watch is New England Patriots safety Kyle Duggar.

Duggar will be an unrestricted free agent for New England at the end of the season, and the Patriots will almost certainly make significant changes to their football squad as well. The New England Patriots are 3-11 this season and might hold the second overall choice in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Duggar is 27 years old and has performed admirably for them this season. He has 88 tackles, 1.5 sacks, two interceptions, and five pass deflections to his credit.

In his piece, Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report speculated on the likelihood of the Green Bay Packers pursuing Kyle Duggar as a free agency this summer, writing:

“Green Bay will be in the safety market this offseason, with several impending free agents at the position, including key contributors Darnell Savage, Rudy Ford, and Jonathan Owens.” While it’s tough to replace three players with one, Duggar’s versatility is a huge reason why he’d be a wonderful match with the Packers. The team will have a few openings to fill in the secondary, and the four-year veteran has played in the box, as a deep safety, and over the slot this season.”

COMING OF AGE: Kyle Dugger went from a Division II player to a second-round draft pick of the Patriots

The Packers should consider signing Duggar as a free agent this year. Green Bay, on the other hand, isn’t known for signing free agents. They normally pick and develop their own players before re-signing or letting them go in free agency.

Kyle Duggar will have numerous suitors this offseason, and Green Bay desperately needs to improve its defense. They will almost certainly replace defensive coordinator Joe Barry. Duggar would be a wonderful match in the Packers’ secondary because they will be in a playoff mode next season, and he would greatly enhance the defense on the backside to aid the offense.
