After being designated as a DNP on Wednesday, one of the Green Bay Packers’ much-needed starters returned to practice on Thursday. On Christmas Eve, the Packers will take on the 2-12 Carolina Panthers.
This game should be viewed as a gimme for the 6-8 Packers. This is the Packers’ easiest win remaining on their schedule, and they need it to stay in the NFC wild card race. However, the Packers are dealing with injury problems this week.
The Packers had five non-participants during practice on Wednesday, including three offensive players. Jayden Reed and Christian Watson, both wide outs, continue to miss practice. Fortunately, a vital offensive tackle returned to the Packers on Thursday.
Thursday marks the return of an offensive lineman for the Green Bay Packers.
Elgton Jenkins returned to practice on Thursday, according to The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman. He’s suffering from a shoulder injury. This week, the Packers need him to play against a tough Panthers defensive line.
That’s good news for the offense, which needs to improve up front if the squad is to make a postseason run. The Packers’ offensive line must create openings in the run game.
The Packers are still without four critical players, including defensive linemen De’Vondre Campbell and Darnell Savage. We’ll see if the Packers can make any progress on the injury front before the Week 16 injury report on Friday.
