In the midst of the Philadelphia Eagles’ losing streak, AJ Brown is not making any excuses. So the last thing he wants to hear is that Jalen Hurts’ illness in Week 15 contributed significantly to the team’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Hurts’ health for Week 15 was a significant question mark for those who were uninformed due to flu-like symptoms. He had to fly separately from the team, generating more doubts about his availability for the game.
Hurts, on the other hand, overcame his health problems and began for the Eagles. Despite his attendance, the Eagles’ losing streak continued as they were defeated 20-17 by the Seahawks. To make matters worse, Drew Lock–who was starting for Seattle due to QB1 Geno Smith’s groin injury–outperformed Hurts in the game.
Hurts threw two interceptions and completed only 17 of his 31 passes for 143 yards in the game. He also failed to score a touchdown. Meanwhile, Lock completed 22 of 33 passes for 208 yards and the game-winning touchdown throw to Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Hurts, 25, was widely chastised for his performance, but many defended him, claiming that his illness had a role in his bad performance. He was never going to be 100 percent after such a quick turnaround between the game and his illness.
“That’s no excuse.” We’re on the field, playing. Nobody cares about what happens with us during the week,” the Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver remarked when questioned about Hurts’ illness and how it may have affected the QB’s performance, according to Heavy.
“Nobody [cares] about that s**t.” We have to play. “I’m not making any excuses, so none should be made.”
Brown couldn’t have stated it better himself. They can’t make such excuses, especially given they were truly ahead of the Seahawks until the final 30 seconds of the game.
Jalen Hurts isn’t making excuses, but he does have a harsh message for the Philadelphia Eagles.
For what it’s worth, Jalen Hurts did not blame his bad performance on his illness. Hurts was asked about his condition after their humiliating loss on Monday, and he simply stated that it is unimportant at this point.
According to Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94WIP, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback stated that he simply did not perform well enough.
Nonetheless, Hurts made some fascinating comments regarding the Eagles’ overall performance, seemingly criticizing the entire squad for a lack of “commitment” to correcting their execution issues.
“I’ve been talking about execution all year and being on the same page.” Hurts were shared. “We didn’t follow through. I don’t believe we’re devoted enough, and we just need to turn things around. It’s a challenge that we must accept and persevere in order to complete.”
It will be interesting to see how AJ Brown and the rest of the Eagles react to that message. Hopefully, it will elicit a positive response and create positive results for the team.
