According to Jorge Nicola (via Caught Offside), Leicester City target Lucas Beraldo is poised to join the club despite interest from elsewhere.
Beraldo, 20, is a promising young Brazilian talent who has gained a lot of attention in the recent year.
This season, the defender has made 24 league appearances in Brazil’s top flight, scoring once from center defense.
Beraldo has been attracting interest for some time, and news broke last week that Sao Paulo were eager to trade the kid, strengthening Leicester City’s chances.
However, they faced competition from Zenit, which offered €18 million for Berlado.
Leicester City are now said to be eager to outbid that offer, and the kid would prefer a move to England, with Premier League play as a potential reward next season.
Leicester City extended their advantage at the top of the Championship table yesterday night with a 3-2 victory over Birmingham City.
Ipswich Town are now their closest challengers, but there is a significant difference between the top two and the other sides in the play-offs. Despite this, Enzo Maresca’s team appears to be showing no signs of complacency as they look to begin January with another significant arrival.
The Foxes were relegated last season, but unlike some other teams, they handled the situation admirably and are poised to return to the top flight next season.
These kinds of performances will help them next month, when players like Beraldo will be more ready to sign knowing that Premier League football is only a matter of months away.
Leicester City’s next match is coming Saturday at home against Rotherham United.
