It was best said by Jon Runyan.
With a 34-20 loss to Tampa Bay on Sunday, the Green Bay Packers’ loquacious right guard watched his club drop to 6-8. And Runyan summed up the Packers’ situation well with three games left.
“We’ve put ourselves in one heck of a hole and the only thing that’s going to cure it is we’ve got to win out,” Runyan went on to say. “Who knows what will happen. We’re at 6-8, and 9-8 puts you in an excellent position. So we’ll have to wait and see what happens. “I believe it is doable.”
The Packers came into Sunday as the NFC’s seventh seed. However, after losing their second consecutive game, they dropped to 11th in the conference – for the time being.
Green Bay will not face another club with a winning record. And the Packers’ final three opponents are a dismal 14-28 overall (.333), implying that a playoff run is still plausible.
Green Bay, on the other hand, does not have a winning record.
“We’re still in it,” said defensive end Kenny Clark. “We still have everything in front of us, and at the end of the day, every game from now on… is a playoff game.” Yep. We have to win this game. Every game we play must be won.”
