Both the Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets have underperformed this season. While many were unsure what to expect from Green Bay’s Jordan Love-led offense, many believed the squad could still challenge for the divisional title. While the division title may be out of reach, the Packers still have a chance to make the playoffs despite a 6-8 record.
After dealing for Aaron Rodgers this offseason, the Jets clearly had Super Bowl expectations this season. Even though Rodgers suffered a ruptured Achilles in Week One, many fans believed the remainder of the roster possessed Super Bowl-caliber quality. While this is true, the squad is now 5-9 and was recently eliminated from playoff contention following a 30-0 loss to the Miami Dolphins. During that loss, there was a confrontation on the sideline that has since gone viral.
Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers got into an argument with star wide out Garrett Wilson on the sidelines.
Gridiron Heroics’ Paolo Songco highlighted an incident that occurred on the sideline on Sunday:
Instead of celebrating their on-field triumphs for the Jets, Rodgers and Wilson have been forced to work on their relationship off the field.
Wilson was seen on the sidelines of Sunday’s humiliating 30-0 shutout defeat to the Miami Dolphins going off on Rodgers in what appeared to be a heated argument between the two:
It’s unclear why Wilson was so enraged, with the 23-year-old even putting his palm on Rodgers’ chest at one point during the exchange. However, the four-time NFL MVP stayed as cool as a cucumber, giving the impression that this was a one-sided outburst from a visibly upset Wilson.
The fact that the Jets were down 27-0 at the time definitely contributed to the wide receiver’s sour mood.
What the Jets’ Sunday loss means for Aaron Rodgers
When it comes to his return to the field, Aaron Rodgers has made a few statements this season. He will not return if he is not medically able to and will “put himself in harm’s way,” and he will not return if the Jets are not in contention for the playoffs.
The Jets will most likely have Zach Wilson or Trevor Siemian (or someone else) at quarterback for the rest of the season after being eliminated from playoff contention on Sunday.
