In 2021 and 2022, Helow was the linebackers coach. While he did not spend any time with the squad this year after the two sides mutually agreed to part ways in February, he has previously coached the team to the playoffs. Saban at his best.
This is typical Nick Saban. He is an expert at these chess moves against opposing coaches. Harbaugh, on the other hand, is a tough nut to crack. I doubt he is threatened by this, and the team has most certainly adjusted some things for 2023 merely because someone else is coaching them. Each coach has their own flavor, therefore it won’t be exactly the same as previous years. It’s unclear what role Helow will play or whether this is just a ploy.

This type of action is what makes college football so entertaining. The matchup was already thrilling, but this raises the stakes much more.
