AFC Playoff Picture: Bengals’ Chances Improve Ahead of Critical Steelers Matchup

Cincinnati improved to 8-6 after defeating Minnesota in Week 15.

CINCINNATI (AP) — On Saturday, the Bengals recovered from a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Vikings 27-24. They’ve won three games in a row and are presently the No. 6 seed with three games remaining in the regular season.

If the season ended today, they would face the Chiefs in the Wild Card round of the playoffs at Arrowhead Stadium.

According to the New York Times, they have a 35% probability of making the playoffs. They had a 25% chance of making the playoffs entering Week 15.

The meeting against the Steelers next week is a critical game for their playoff aspirations. Since losing 16-10 to Pittsburgh in Jake Browning’s debut start, the Bengals have won three consecutive.

If Cincinnati defeats Pittsburgh, their chances of making the playoffs jump to 54%. If they lose, their chances are reduced to 13%.

The Steelers aren’t out, but their chances of making the playoffs are at about 3%. That means they’ll aim to be the spoiler in Pittsburgh this week.
