Tyreek Hill, the Miami Dolphins’ standout wide receiver, will miss today’s game against the New York Jets due to an ankle injury, the team stated.
Hill was spotted warming up without his ankle bandaged, but he will not play against the Dolphins’ AFC East opponent.
Miami’s choice looks to be based on caution, as Hill would have attempted to add to his MVP résumé and come closer to 2,000 yards receiving.
Hill suffered the injury during the first quarter of the Dolphins’ Monday Night Football game against the Tennessee Titans while being tackled out of bounds.
Hill only played 33 snaps during the game, after briefly returning from the locker room.
Hill later said that he was persuaded to return to the game after receiving a text message from his wife that read, ‘You’d better get your ass back in that game, dawg.’
Keeta Vaccaro Hill failed to encourage her spouse, and he is now unable to play in a full game.
‘Then I simply made a decision, I came in at halftime, and I texted my wife: “This s*** hurt… “I need an ankle massage tonight,” I said, and she said, “You’d better get your a** back in that game, dawg.” “All right,” I said, according to ESPN.
Hill has 1,542 receiving yards with four games remaining in the regular season.
No NFL wide receiver has ever topped 2,000 yards in a single season, with Calvin Johnson’s 1,964 yards in 2012 currently holding the league record.
