Yesterday, the Minnesota Vikings suffered a sad loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. The pivotal play in overtime was a fourth and inches call with the Vikings close to field goal range. Head coach Kevin O’Connell attempted a quarterback sneak, but it was unsuccessful. The Bengals took possession of the ball and drove for the game-winning field goal. Dave Portnoy, the creator of Barstool, called for the Vikings to clean house after the game.

Kevin O'Connell moving on from Week 5: 'My job is to go attack this thing'

Kevin O’Connell, head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, has been asked to resign.
“You have to fire everybody if you’re the Vikings for this,” Portnoy wrote on X. On third and fourth down, O’Connell called two consecutive quarterback sneaks. Neither of them were converted by the team. After the game, O’Connell stated his reasoning. “Really looking at about 4-5 inches there,” O’Connell added. “I don’t want to turn around and extend the ball and hand off.” In that moment, I trust our people to execute.” The Vikings have suffered a significant loss. It makes winning the division nearly impossible, and their postseason berth is now jeopardized.

Totally disagree
The Vikings should not try to get rid of O’Connell. It stinks that they couldn’t convert on fourth down, but that wasn’t O’Connell’s fault. On fourth down, quarterback Nick Mullens botched the snap and fell behind the line. It’s not a bad idea to believe your team can pick up four inches on a play, especially if they’re given two chances. Despite all that has happened this season, the Vikings are 7-7, which is a testimony to O’Connell’s work.

Will the Minnesota Vikings make the playoffs? They have some big divisional games coming up, and the setback on Saturday puts even more pressure on them to win.
