Jeremiah Beasley, a Michigan commit, has joined the Wolverines for Rose Bowl preparation: ‘It’s a blessing,’ says the author.

ANN ARBOR, MI – Jeremiah Beasley, a Michigan football commit, does not look like an entering freshman, let alone someone who was playing in high school only a few weeks ago.

The Wolverines are just days away from signing the four-star linebacker recruit from Belleville (Mich.) High School. He reported to practice this week and will be a part of his new program at the College Football Playoff when Michigan takes on Alabama in the Rose Bowl.

“I went to my first practice yesterday. I’ll be there for the bowl game and everything. “We leave on the 26th, so that’ll work for me,” Beasley explained. “Then it’s early enrollment.” When they return from their break, I’ll begin classes. We’ve got spring ball and all that, so I’ll work on that.

“… I finished my last high school game not even a month ago – like, three weeks ago. As a result, it’s a blessing.”

The athletic linebacker stopped by the Blue Leprechaun on Sunday afternoon to help Will Johnson and Semaj Morgan as they staged a holiday toy drive. Beasley’s visit followed a long-standing friendship between them: his older brother played 7-on-7 against Johnson, and he grew up with Morgan, who is only one year older.

“We’re all really close, so I came out to support them,” Beasley said.

Beasley has watched from afar — if 20 minutes along I-94 counts as “afar” — while Morgan has emerged as a playmaker during his first season at the University of Michigan. The quick receiver has 17 receptions for 183 yards and two scores, and his 87-yard punt return against Iowa was one of the Big Ten Championship game’s best plays.

“That’s like motivation me, to see that somebody that young can come in and have that big of an impact,” Beasley was quoted as saying. “That tells me you can come in and play early and do what he’s doing or even better.”

According to Beasley, the University of Michigan staff sees him as a WILL linebacker. And, despite the fact that Chris Partridge’s departure has created some uncertainty in the room, he is unconcerned.

“I feel comfortable,” he remarked of the coaching staff. “Right now, Jesse Minter’s father serves as the linebacker coach. He’s a genuinely nice and intelligent guy. They want to hire someone after the bowl game, thus their plans for this year are unaffected. I’m confident that they’ll make the right decision.”

Scouting report on Jeremiah Beasley from 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Allen Trieu:

Strong linebacker with short-area explosiveness. Size is adequate, yet he outperforms his specified metrics. Was injured as a freshman and had a good second year, but made significant strides as a junior and appeared to have regained his explosiveness following his recuperation. Has a track background and easily runs and goes around in space. He times his blitzes well and shoots gaps quickly. Is also a standout at running back and could fill the role of a bigger back if a school wanted to use him there. Three-down linebacker capable of playing in a number of systems.
