Jales Hurts’ availability to play in Monday night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles took another hit Sunday morning. Hurts has been battling a virus for the past two days.
Hurts did not take part in the Eagles’ practice on Saturday. However, the organization was hopeful that Hurts would be able to play against the Seahawks on Saturday. He’s accompanying the team to Seattle.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Eagles downgraded Hurts to questionable for Monday night’s game because his condition deteriorated Saturday night.
Hurts will still travel to Seattle, but he will do so apart from his Eagles teammates in order to avoid spreading the illness to other players and personnel. Hurts may be able to play against the Seahawks because he is traveling to Seattle.
The Eagles want their MVP candidate to start at quarterback on Monday night. If Hurts is unable to play, backup quarterback Marcus Mariota will start against the Seahawks.
Mariota has only appeared in one game this season. Two weeks ago, he passed for 16 yards against the San Francisco 49ers. During his 13 starts for the Atlanta Falcons last season, Mariota threw for 2,219 yards, 15 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
