Green Bay Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur Issues a Statement Regarding Joe Barry’s Future

On Sunday, the Green Bay Packers suffered yet another crushing defeat. It happened again, this time at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Packers have stumbled twice after winning three straight games against the Los Angeles Chargers, Detroit Lions, and Kansas City Chiefs.

The Packers’ playoff chances took a significant hit after a 34-20 loss to Tampa Bay. Once again, the defense struggled against a Baker Mayfield-led offense. Matt LaFleur addressed Defensive Coordinator Joe Barry’s future in Green Bay following the game.

Failure of 2022 Packers Starts and Ends with Coaching

Following the Green Bay Packers’ 34-20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Matt LaFleur commented on Joe Barry’s future with the team.

According to The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman:

“Now is not the time for that,” Matt LaFleur said of a change in coordinator during the season.

He stated that he needs to watch the film again.

Why Packers coach Matt LaFleur kept defensive coordinator Joe Barry

According to CBS Sports, Baker Mayfield became the first visiting quarterback in history to have a perfect Passer Rating (158.3) at Lambeau Field.

Mayfield completed 22 of 28 throws for 381 yards and four touchdowns while throwing no interceptions. Mayfield had one of his better games of the season.

By victory, the Buccaneers advance to 7-7 and maintain their lead in the NFC South. The Packers, who were in the wild card slot entering today, are now on the outside looking in with three games remaining. It will be fascinating to watch what changes (if any) Green Bay makes in the aftermath of this setback.
