Jordan Poyer, a Buffalo Bills defensive back, has established quite a name for himself in the NFL since being drafted in the seventh round in 2013.
He could also be the first player ever chosen in the draft who is an extraterrestrial. At least, that’s what he thinks.
He was signed by the Eagles and played in three games before being released and claimed off waivers by the Browns.
After three seasons in Cleveland, where he only started 10 games, he eventually got his big break when the Buffalo Bills signed him as a free agent before the 2017 season.
Since then, he has started every game for Buffalo in which he has been healthy (from 2018 to 2021, he did not miss a game) and was chosen first-team All-Pro in 2021.
So, what has changed?
Jordan Poyer says in a new interview with The Athletic that it was a combination of quitting drinking and taking ayahuasca.
Poyer admits to drinking heavily in college, but by 2018, he was downing a six-pack of IPAs in 20 to 30 minutes and frequently blacking out.
“I’d find him drinking in unusual places, like under bathroom cabinets, hidden like a child,” his wife Rachel revealed.
He was still battling with anxiety and sadness after quitting drinking.
That’s when he came across ayahuasca.
“It’s brownish and really thick,” he described it. “It resembles oil, but it’s darker and thicker.” It’s one of the most disgusting things you’ve ever tasted.”
He claims that while under the effect of the psychedelic medication, he learned to love and cherish everything he had.
“After he did ayahuasca, he became like my dream husband,” Rachel went on to say. “I was nervous about what it would do to him, but he came back a totally new man, so appreciative of me and our family.”
That newcomer could be an alien.
“I truly feel like I’m not from this planet, always being the odd one out, having different perspectives, thinking differently,” he said.
Poyer’s “purpose now is to be a bright light for everybody that I touch and connect with,” he says.
Let us hope that all aliens feel the same way.
