Christian Watson of the Green Bay Packers is expected to miss Sunday’s Week 15 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Christian Watson of the Green Bay Packers did not practice on Thursday due to a hamstring ailment. With a hamstring issue, he is expected to miss his second consecutive game on Sunday. Watson will miss the game for the fifth time this season due to a hamstring ailment.

He’s had a difficult second season attempting to stay on the field. Christian Watson has caught 28 catches for 422 yards and five touchdowns this season. This season, he has averaged 15.1 yards per reception. This season, quarterback Jordan Love has targeted Watson 53 times.

Speaking of Love, when asked about Christian Watson’s injuries earlier this week, he informed the media:

2023 NFL Injury Report Week 14: Christian Watson & Derrick Henry Injury Updates | Fantasy Alarm

“I think it’s difficult when you don’t have your best guys out there.” But we’ve got so many reps with other guys in our offense that I’m confident, and they’re confident. But, as you mentioned, it’s all about the next man up. But, clearly, it’s difficult. You always want your best guys to be present. However, things do happen. It’s football time. Injuries occur. You must simply move ahead without making any excuses. Obviously, get as comfortable as you can throughout the week, with repetitions and such. Make sure we go out there and give it our all.”

Wide Receiver with the Green Bay Packers If Christian Watson continues to miss time, he may not be the No. 1 wide receiver next season.

Watson was the Packers’ top wide receiver on the depth chart heading into this season. For him, a lot has changed since the preseason. He has the skill to be Green Bay’s starting wideout, but his best availability is durability.

Jayden Reed was listed as the Packers’ third wide receiver on the depth chart entering the season, but he appears to be the Packers’ number-one option for quarterback Jordan Love. The number two option is Romeo Doubs.

Some may even argue that Dontayvion Wicks has outperformed Christian Watson as a rookie for the Green Bay Packers this season. If Watson is out following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game, Green Bay will have a major choice in the summer.

Would they be willing to deal Watson for more help because they are deep at the position, or would they be willing to chance having him on the roster as an injury-prone player for the third straight season? This is something that general manager Brian Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur will have to talk about this offseason.

Watson was expected to have a season with close to 1,000 yards, 10 touchdowns, and more than 80 receptions. That did not go as planned for the Green Bay Packers.
