The Green Bay Packers have seen enough of Jordan Love this season to believe that he has the potential to be “the guy” in Green Bay. Despite a heartbreaking 24-22 loss to the New York Giants on Monday night, the Packers still have complete control of their playoff fate in 2023.

While Love has had a productive year overall, there are undoubtedly areas where he can improve. One position that will need to be addressed is left tackle longevity. Keeping Love’s blindside safe will be critical to his progress. The Packers are expected to accomplish exactly that.

In a trade proposal to strengthen Jordan Love’s blind side, the Green Bay Packers add LT Amarius Mims in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine outlined how the Packers can acquire their future left tackle:

It’s difficult to predict the specifics of a trade until we see the draft order, but the Packers continue to fall further and further back.

It’s unfortunate that David Bakhtiari’s tenure at left tackle is coming to an end, but it’s also unrealistic to expect the oft-injured 32-year-old to ever return to his prior heights after appearing in just 13 games over the last three seasons.

The Packers have done an excellent job of drafting and developing lineman in the past, but determining who will protect Jordan Love’s blindside should necessitate a top-tier prospect.

Fortunately, this is a good enough class to require a tackle. We have five tackles in our top 32, with Patrick Paul sitting just outside the top 40 at No. 40 overall.

The issue is that with a scarcity of tackles, the Packers may not have the luxury of sitting back and waiting for someone to fall to them. If they prefer one tackle above the others, a trade should be considered to move up the board and get their guy.

Would the Packers Invest Significantly on the LT Position?

Green Bay Packers: David Bakhtiari may be the best pass blocker alive

Bakhtiari demonstrated in Week One that he is still one of the NFL’s greatest left tackles. While he has been absent, both Yosh Nijman and Rasheed Walker have failed to take over the post permanently. Bakhtiari also stated that he would like to return to the Packers in 2024.

Green Bay’s front staff enjoys investing high-end draft money in the offensive and defensive lines. Even if Bakhtiari returns for his 12th season in 2024, it would not be strange to see the Packers choose their LT of the future.
