The Minnesota Vikings are still in contention for an NFC playoff spot.
The Vikings announced earlier this week that they would be replacing Josh Dobbs as starting quarterback with Nick Mullens against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The status of standout wide receiver Justin Jefferson has been the biggest question mark around the Vikings’ offense.
The Vikings and Mullens received the greatest possible news about Jefferson’s availability on Wednesday.
Justin Jefferson will play for the Minnesota Vikings against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Vikings wide receiver left the game on Sunday with a chest injury after taking a strong hit from Raiders defender Marcus Epps. Jefferson was examined on the sidelines before being taken to a nearby hospital. According to O’Connell, testing ruled out any major injury to Jefferson.
However, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Wednesday, Justin Jefferson will play for the Vikings in a crucial Week 15 game.
Following the Raiders’ game, O’Connell stated that Jefferson had been discharged from the hospital and would accompany the team home.
Jefferson’s health was upgraded to “day-to-day” by Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell on December 11, and the wideout is expected to play in Week 15 against the Bengals.
This is clearly huge news for the Minnesota Vikings, who are looking for a road win to keep their NFC playoff aspirations alive.
Jefferson has 36 receptions for 571 yards and three touchdowns in five games. His 114.2 yards per game contribute to his claim as the top wide receiver in the game. He won’t match his 1,809-yard season from 2022, but he’s still a top option when healthy. Football is more enjoyable with him on the field.
