Sunderland interim manager Mike Dodds has provided an update on the club’s managerial situation ahead of their match against Leeds United on Tuesday night.

Dodds received high praise after leading Sunderland to a convincing win over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

The 37-year-old has already done a better job than the last time he was asked to take interim charge of the club following the sacking of Lee Johnson.

He led the Black Cats to defeats against Doncaster Rovers and Cheltenham Town, both of which were disastrous results for a team vying for promotion to the Championship.

Dodds, on the other hand, has a “point to prove” and the players’ support, as evidenced by the passion and fight they displayed in their victory over the Baggies.

And now, a crucial update on his position as manager has emerged ahead of their match against Leeds United on Tuesday night.

Mike Dodds elaborates on the next steps in Sunderland’s managerial search.
Although Sunderland’s managerial search continues, no decision is expected soon, which means Dodds is prepared to take charge of another Championship game.

“As far as I’m aware, I’m in charge on Tuesday, and nobody has told me otherwise,” he said. I’m sticking to my plan until someone tells me otherwise.”

You can never take your foot off the gas in professional football management, which is why Dodds has avoided any discussion of whether he wants to be a contender for the position.

However, it remains to be seen whether owner Kyril Louis-Dreyrus’ thought process would change if he were to orchestrate a victory over Leeds.

Mike Dodds’ future at Sunderland is uncertain.
Despite only having taken charge of one game in the Championship so far, Dodds’ approach to the situation is refreshing.

He’s shown that he’s not afraid to make bold tactical decisions, such as using Jobe Bellingham as a lone striker, and that he knows how to get the most out of this young squad.

After all, he works with them on the training ground every day, has a good rapport with them, and has learned a lot from Tony Mowbray’s time at the club.

He is aware that he will not be given the job permanently and is temporarily in charge until Sunderland appoints the right candidate.

Indeed, his future at the Stadium of Light will most likely remain behind the scenes, but if he leads the club to another statement performance on Tuesday night, he may turn more heads.
