FLW examines three players Leicester City should pursue in the January transfer window.

The January transfer window is a critical period of the season for many clubs chasing success at the end of the season, and it will be no different for Leicester City, who will be looking to hold off the teams vying for top spot in the Championship.

Many thought the Foxes would run away with the title after an excellent start to the season under new manager Enzo Maresca, but a recent turnaround in form has opened up an exciting title race heading into a busy period of the season.

Maresca’s side remain top of the table, but with Ipswich Town just one point behind and Leeds United closing in on the top two, the Foxes may need to strengthen their squad if they are to pull away from the pack.

That being said, here are three players Leicester City should keep an eye on as the January transfer window approaches.

Lucas Beraldo.

The So Paulo defender has been heavily linked with a move to the King Power Stadium in recent days, so it would be no surprise to see the Foxes sign him when the transfer window opens in January.

According to reports, the Foxes will have to pay a fee of around £17.1 million to secure the Brazilian’s signature, and they will have to beat out Chelsea, Wolves, and Brentford to do so.

While Jannik Vestergaard and Wout Faes have been impressive this season, and with the Foxes already having back-ups in Conor Coady and Harry Souttar, Beraldo would be a signing for the future at just 20-years-old.

Onyeka, Frank

For many months, it has been widely reported that Leicester midfielder Wilfried Ndidi’s future is uncertain, with the Nigerian international’s contract expiring in the summer.

One suggestion is that the Foxes sell Ndidi in January to avoid losing out on a transfer fee for the 26-year-old.

Despite having a strong midfield already, Maresca is likely to want to bring in another midfielder if Ndidi leaves in January.

An approach to Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka would be a wise move for the Foxes.

Under Thomas Frank, Onyeka has mostly played off the bench, and at only 25 years old and a Nigerian international, the midfielder would be a like-for-like replacement for the departing Ndidi.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.

The Foxes already have a strong attacking option, but it would not be surprising if they enquired about a loan deal for the Crystal Palace winger when the transfer window opens in January.

Leicester were reportedly interested in signing the 21-year-old late in the summer transfer window, and they could use his services to supplement their front three.

Rak-Sakyi spent last season on loan at Charlton, where he thrived, earning him a spot in the Palace first team as the new season began.

However, four months later, the winger has only appeared in six Eagles League games, suggesting that a loan could benefit all parties.
