More Sanctions: The NFL suspends controversial Philadelphia Eagles security guard Dom DiSandro from team activities.

The Philadelphia Eagles will be without one of their key security personnel when they travel to Dallas to play the Cowboys on Sunday night. The NFL announced on Saturday that the Eagles’ chief of security, Dom DiSandro, has been barred from the sidelines of Sunday’s game due to an altercation last week.

DiSandro, who has been with the team since 1999, was ejected on Nov. 26 after making contact with San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw. Greenlaw started the sideline brawl by tackling Eagles receiver DeVonta Smith after the whistle, resulting in a 15-yard late hit penalty. Greenlaw was ejected after a video showed the 229-pound linebacker angrily touching DiSandro’s face on the Eagles’ sidelines.

DeSandro can still perform his routine duties at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, even though he won’t be on the field against the Cowboys. Greenlaw told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that he and DiSandro exchanged apologies through mutual friends.

“We just exchanged a formal apology just between me and [Niners general manager John Lynch] and some of the same people that we do know that in the building and stuff like that,” Greenlaw said in an interview with ESPN. “He appeared to be a genuine guy.” Everyone in the building seemed to like this guy. So, to be honest, I despise that. I’m really upset that it escalated to that point.”

The NFL issued a league-wide memo on Wednesday reminding teams to “please ensure that all members of your game-day staff understand that their role does not extend to being involved with game-day altercations and that they must refrain from such involvement.”
