With quarterback Kyler Murray, the Arizona Cardinals are in a difficult situation. Many analysts have speculated on whether the team will try to trade Murray for a cheaper quarterback. According to one NFL executive, this is impossible.

Is Kyler Murray’s contract with the Arizona Cardinals non-transferable?The Athletic’s Jeff Howe wrote an article about Murray and spoke with NFL executives about the possibility of a trade. “That’s just not a tradeable contract,” said one NFL executive. “Moving that contract is problematic,” said another. Murray agreed to a five-year, $230.5 million contract extension that will last until 2028. His guaranteed $35.3 million for next season makes him difficult to move. A trade would entail another team taking on a substantial portion of his salary. “As a member of another team, why would I do that?” an executive asked Howe. “They’d probably just cut him.”

What Are the Cardinals’ Options?
Finally, if the team wants to move Murray and another team desperately wants him, they can make it work. However, there is a possibility that the Cardinals will select a player other than a quarterback. If they do end up with a first-round pick, they may decide to trade it in exchange for a king’s ransom and later select a skill position player. There is still plenty of time left in the season, and when Murray returns to the lineup, the Cardinals will get a good look at him.

Kyler Murray’s future with the Arizona Cardinals will be decided. They have options, but a decision must be made soon.
