The Minnesota Vikings have officially signed linebacker

EAGAN, Minnesota — A familiar face has returned to the Minnesota Vikings.

The team announced on Tuesday that veteran linebacker Anthony Barr has been signed to the practice squad.

Barr began his career with the Vikings and most recently with the Dallas Cowboys, where he recorded 58 tackles and two fumble recoveries in 14 games.

Barr’s return coincides with the injury of starting linebacker Jordan Hicks, who suffered compartment syndrome after an on-field injury on Sunday. Hicks’ condition necessitated hospitalization, and he is expected to miss at least one game.

Minnesota selected Barr ninth overall in the 2014 NFL Draft. During his time with the Vikings, he made four consecutive Pro Bowl appearances.
