NEWS: The Minnesota Vikings have waived their first-round draft pick. What Does It Mean for the Minnesota Vikings?

The Minnesota Vikings had a rough start to the week after a 12-10 loss to the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, which was far less boring – albeit still somewhat excruciating in having to watch Justin Fields for 3.5 hours – than the scoreboard would suggest.

Joshua Dobbs, a minor quarterback sensation, threw four interceptions, though this is somewhat misleading of his overall performance because two-fourths of his interceptions were tipped/dropped by the receiver. Despite this, Kevin O’Connell refused to confirm Dobbs as the starter for the rest of the season.

Justin Jefferson, the Minnesota Vikings’ All-Pro wide receiver and reigning Offensive Player of the Year, has been activated to the team’s 53-man roster. However, there must be a subtraction for every addition, and the Vikings have decided to waive a familiar face, particularly to those in the North East, according to Tom Pelissero.

I’d say N’Keal Harry is a complementary piece, but that would be mildly insulting to complementary pieces everywhere. Harry has compiled a fairly pathetic 64 receptions for 714 yards and 5 touchdowns since being drafted by the New England Patriots in 2019, ahead of stars and potential future hall-of-famers Deebo Samuel and AJ Brown, as well as Pro Bowlers DK Metcalf and Diontae Johnson.

Despite his former high draft status, Harry was fifth on the Vikings’ receiving depth chart prior to Jefferson’s return, trailing undrafted impressive receiver Brandon Powell and 2022 sixth-round pick Jalilor.

This could spell the end for N’Keal Harry, who appears to be doomed to spend the rest of his career on practice squads. Hopefully, some coach will be able to unlock the vast potential that once made him the 32nd overall pick, and he will be able to resume his career.
