NFL players have made it clear that they don’t care about fantasy football teams, but that didn’t stop Minnesota Vikings wideout Justin Jefferson from doubling down on Tuesday morning. The All-Pro receiver took to Twitter (also known as X) to fire off a tweet in response to fantasy football fans bombarding his direct messages begging him to play.
Jefferson hasn’t played since early October due to a hamstring injury. The Vikings have designated Jefferson to return to practice before Week 10, but he has yet to play in a game.
Justin Jefferson isn’t the first NFL player to criticize fantasy football players.
Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings was not the first, and will not be the last, player to mock fantasy football players. Miles Sanders, a former Philadelphia Eagles running back, took to Twitter last season and stated emphatically, “Don’t care about y’all ticket or fantasy and never will!!!!.”
Odell Beckham Jr., a standout wide receiver, tweeted in 2017: “No offense. I couldn’t give a damn about your fantasy teams. This is my everyday life. Concentrating on getting healthier and better. “Take it one day at a time.” Beckham suffered a fractured left ankle that season and was placed on the season-ending injured reserve (IR).
Former NFL stars Golden Tate, Chris Johnson, and LeGarrette Blount all made headlines during their careers for tweeting about how little they care about fantasy football.
WR for the Minnesota Vikings Justin Jefferson’s Return Is Near
The Minnesota Vikings anticipate that Justin Jefferson will return to the field sooner rather than later. On November 8, the Vikings extended Jefferson’s practice window to 21 days, giving him two more gamedays. According to Alec Lewis of The Athletic, Jefferson is still questionable for Week 12.
In five games this season, Jefferson has 36 receptions for 571 yards and three touchdowns. In 2022, the LSU product was named Offensive Player of the Year after recording an NFL-high 128 receptions and 1,809 yards. The 24-year-old surpassed 1,000 yards in each of his first three NFL seasons.
