The Premier League, Sky Sports, and TNT Sports have reached an unprecedented four-year broadcast agreement. Beginning with the 2025/26 season, at least 267 of the 380 Premier League games will be broadcast live on television.
Sky Sports will broadcast at least 210 live games per season, while TNT Sports will broadcast 52. Sky Sports will broadcast live every game on the final day of the season, as well as games that begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday due to teams’ European commitments. Any Saturday match that does not fall into the ‘3pm blackout’ slot will be shown live, even if the original fixture was not chosen for TV coverage.
Sky Sports will also broadcast at least four games each weekend, with Friday and Monday night games still on the schedule. The BBC will continue to broadcast free highlights of all 380 games, but Amazon Prime will no longer broadcast games.
The Premier League’s current TV deal has Amazon Prime broadcasting 60 games over a three-year period; however, when the new TV deal goes into effect, that will no longer be the case. The four-year contract will be worth £6.7 billion in total, a 4% increase over the previous broadcast deal.
All of this means that Premier League clubs will maintain their financial dominance over the rest of English football and across the continent, with the new Premier League deal set to outperform any other TV deal in Europe.
“We are delighted to announce new deals with Sky Sports and TNT Sports that will extend our partnership for a further four years and see more Premier League matches shown live than ever before from 2025/26 onwards,” Premier League chief executive Richard Masters said.
“As long-standing and valued partners, Sky Sports and TNT Sports are known for delivering world-class coverage and programming on a consistent basis.” We have had record audiences and attendance in recent seasons, and we are confident that their continued innovation will encourage more people to watch and follow the Premier League.
“We are also delighted to extend our partnership with BBC Sport, which will continue to bring weekly highlights of all Premier League matches to the UK’s widest possible audience.” Match of the Day has been an institution for generations of football fans in the United Kingdom, and it continues to be extremely popular with fans of all ages.
“The outcome of this process underlines the strength of the Premier League and is testament to our clubs, players and managers who continue to deliver the world’s most competitive football in full stadiums, and to supporters, who create an unrivalled atmosphere every week.”
Newcastle United’s games have been regularly broadcast on television this season, and their next two Premier League games will be as well. Amazon Prime will broadcast their match against Everton at Goodison Park on Thursday night (7:30pm kick-off), while Sky Sports will broadcast their game against Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur in London on Sunday (4:30pm kick-off).
